Stepping into Palermo, Italy, I was immediately drawn to the intricate details of its historic architecture. This particular roof, with its overlapping, scale-like tiles, felt like a sleeping dragon, each tile a shimmering scale. The mix of colours – the warm terracotta, the sun-baked yellow, and the serene green – spoke of long summers and the sea breeze.

The way the light caught the edges of the tiles, highlighting their age and wear, was simply mesmerizing. It’s these imperfections, these marks of time, that give a place its soul.
