Field Notes

The Story

Standing on a vantage point overlooking the city, I was immediately struck by the interplay of light and shadow on these ancient structures. The detailed craftsmanship of the Palermo Cathedral's bell tower stood in beautiful contrast to the organic curves of the tiled domes.

The textures here are incredible – the almost scaly appearance of the overlapping tiles, each one weathered and unique, alongside the rough-hewn stone of the tower. It felt like stepping back in time, with the bright Sicilian sun illuminating every detail and casting a warm glow over the scene. It was a perfect winter's afternoon in Palermo.
