The Story
Standing in Szent István Tér, Budapest, I was drawn to the ground. So often, we look up at the grand architecture, but here, the detail at my feet was captivating. The way the light caught the different stone textures, the precise geometry of the concentric circles and the repeated star motifs – it felt like a hidden masterpiece.
I crouched down, framing the shot to emphasize the patterns and the interplay of warm terracotta, creamy beige, and the stark black and yellow star band. The overcast sky provided perfect, even lighting, allowing every subtle crack and variation in the stone to be visible. It’s moments like these, finding beauty in unexpected places, that make travel so rewarding. Even the discarded cigarette butt, a stark modern contrast, told a small story of urban life unfolding on this ancient-looking design.
