Xewkija's Sacred Dome

The Story

Captured on a beautiful spring day in Xewkija, Malta. The late morning sun was bright, casting soft shadows that gave the ancient stone buildings a warm glow. I was immediately struck by the visual perspective, with the street acting as a leading line directly towards the impressive dome of the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist.

The juxtaposition of the old stone walls, some appearing almost ruinous, with the grand church and the vibrant details of balconies and window frames, created a rich tapestry of Maltese life. The tall pine tree on the left added a touch of natural drama, its dark needles contrasting with the pale blue sky.

It felt like a moment frozen in time, a quiet street in a historic town, where the grandeur of religious architecture meets the everyday beauty of Mediterranean life.
