Corfu Bell Tower Street
Wandering through Corfu's charming old town, the scent of the sea mingling with spices, I found myself drawn to this sun-drenched alleyway, a classic snapshot of Greece.
The Story
The stones underfoot were still slick from a recent shower, reflecting the warm, ochre hues of the Venetian-era buildings that lined this narrow street in Corfu, Greece. Strings of lights crisscrossed overhead, their festive glow illuminating the shops filled with local crafts and souvenirs.
As I walked further into the heart of the old town, the iconic bell tower of Saint Spyridon Church, with its distinctive red dome, came into view, a steadfast landmark against the bright blue Greek sky. It felt like stepping back in time, a moment of pure Mediterranean magic.
The air was alive with the gentle murmur of conversation and the distant chime of the clock tower, a symphony of everyday life in this historic corner of the Ionian Sea.
