The Story

I was hiking along the Hayfield Trail in Saratoga, California, enjoying the late afternoon sun when I spotted this little fellow. It was perched perfectly on an old wooden post, basking in the warmth. The way the light hit its scales, highlighting the texture of its skin against the rough wood, was just captivating.

The background was a blur of vibrant green, likely from the spring foliage, which made the lizard and the post really stand out. It felt like a truly authentic slice of California wildlife, a small, wild detail in a vast, beautiful landscape.
