The Story

Standing on a hillside in the Saint Victor neighbourhood of Marseille, I was struck by the layers of this city. In the foreground, the classic red tiles and shutters of an older building offered a sense of history, a sharp contrast to the sleek, modern apartments that followed.

Beyond the urban sprawl, the vast expanse of the Mediterranean Sea stretched out, leading to the hazy, golden slopes of the distant mountains. The late afternoon sun cast a beautiful light, illuminating the scene with a warm, inviting glow. It felt like capturing the essence of Marseille – a city where history, modernity, and natural beauty converge.

It was a crisp, clear day, the kind that makes the colours pop. I aimed to capture the interplay of light and shadow on the buildings and the serene beauty of the coastline. This is a view that speaks of life lived under the Provençal sun.
