Field Notes

The Story

Standing right at the edge of the Merced River in Yosemite National Park, I wanted to capture the sheer energy and beauty of the water as it flowed. The sun was hitting the riverbed just right, making the water glow with this incredible golden-green light.

I got down low to emphasize the movement and texture of the water, with the large granite boulder on the right serving as a natural framing element. The background, with the dense forest climbing the mountain, really anchors the scene and reminds you of the vastness of this incredible place.

It was a perfect spring day, clear and bright, with the vibrant greens of the new foliage everywhere. The sound of the river was incredibly soothing, a perfect soundtrack to the stunning visual spectacle.
