Seoul's Royal Gate
Step through the grand Daehanmun gate at Deoksugung Palace in Seoul, where centuries of Korean history whisper through the vibrant colours and intricate details. This iconic structure, framed by a timeless pine, invites you to explore the heart of a royal past.
The Story
I stood in awe beneath the sweeping eaves of Daehanmun, the main gate of Deoksugung Palace in Seoul. The crisp autumn air was invigorating, and the sky overhead was an impossibly deep blue. It was late morning, and the sun cast long, dramatic shadows, really making the rich reds and intricate painted details of the gate pop.
That old pine tree to the left, with its weathered branches, felt like a silent guardian. I loved how its vibrant green needles contrasted with the warm tones of the palace and the scattered golden leaves on the ground. It felt like nature and history were having a beautiful conversation right there.
Capturing this shot felt like freezing a moment where Seoul's ancient soul meets its modern vibrancy. The sheer scale and artistry of the gate, combined with the perfect lighting and seasonal colours, made it a truly unforgettable scene.
