Windmill Sails Malta

The Story

I was drawn to this incredible windmill in Gharsi, Malta, the moment I saw it. The way the light was hitting it, even on an overcast day, made the textures of the stone and the intricate mechanics of the sails really pop. I decided to shoot it from a low angle to really emphasize its scale and grandeur against the sky.

Being there in May, it felt like a perfect time to visit Malta. The weather was mild, and the sky provided a soft, diffused light that was ideal for this kind of black and white photography. It allowed me to focus purely on the form and the story the structure told without distractions.
