The Story
I was drawn to this incredible windmill in Gharsi, Malta, the moment I saw it. The way the light was hitting it, even on an overcast day, made the textures of the stone and the intricate mechanics of the sails really pop. I decided to shoot it from a low angle to really emphasize its scale and grandeur against the sky.
Being there in May, it felt like a perfect time to visit Malta. The weather was mild, and the sky provided a soft, diffused light that was ideal for this kind of black and white photography. It allowed me to focus purely on the form and the story the structure told without distractions.
This image captures a piece of Malta's rich history. It’s a reminder of the ingenuity and hard work that shaped the island. I hope this print brings a sense of that enduring spirit into your home.
