The Story
I captured this image on Christmas morning in Budapest, hoping to catch the city waking up. The sky was heavy with clouds, which diffused the light and gave everything a moody, painterly quality. I was drawn to the way the road curved alongside the river, with the historic buildings of Pest forming a majestic backdrop on one side and the still waters of the Danube on the other.
The bare trees along the embankment added a touch of stark elegance, their branches like delicate etchings against the muted sky.
