Vesuvius Over Ancient Walls

The Story

I was absolutely captivated by the light in Pompeii on this particular afternoon. Standing between these ancient walls, the sun hit them at just the right angle, bringing out the warmth and texture of the stone. It felt like stepping back in time.

Framing the shot, I wanted to juxtapose the man-made ruins with the natural grandeur of Vesuvius. The clear blue sky provided a perfect backdrop, emphasizing the scale of the mountain and the permanence of its presence over the city it once buried. The green of the pine tree added a touch of living colour to the scene, a symbol of continuity amidst the remnants of the past.
